Tips for Visiting the Refuge

Observe wildlife from a safe and respectful distance. Binoculars, spotting scopes, and telephoto lenses allow you to view wildlife closely without disturbing them. Remember, national wildlife refuges are for wildlife first, people second.

Please restrain all pets on leashes. Loose dogs may harass wildlife and detract from other
visitors’ enjoyment of the refuge. Please pick up after your pet.

During the summer months, biting flies and mosquitoes are abundant. Insect repellent is highly recommended.

Dress appropriately for your visit. Bring foul weather gear in case you get caught in Maine’s unpredictable weather.
