Quarterly Meetings
Tentatively scheduled for:
April 12th

We have decided to meet QUARTERLY rather than MONTHLY. Save the above dates and plan to join us for a good (and productive) time! Everyone is welcome to attend our quarterly meetings. This is your opportunity to meet some of the other members of the Friends' group, help plan upcoming events and get involved as a volunteer. Mark your calendars now, but check back to this website for possible date changes and a detailed agenda. Directions: From Rte 2 in Milford, go 0.7 miles south on Bradley Road (Rte 178) to River Village Drive on the right side. After you pull into the condos, the Sales Center is the first building on the left. Contact Jan by email or phone: 991-1645 or 827-0227, if you have questions.

Wild Things: Introducing Your Young Child to the Forest
April 24th; 11:00 A.M. (Rain date = May 1st)
Carter Meadow Loop Trail

Child and ferns.

Dr. Alison Dibble will be leading a hike on the Carter Meadow Trail. She will introduce your youngsters to the wild and wonderful things in the forest. Dr. Dibble is a Conservation Biologist and principal scientist with Stewards LLC, a consulting firm that assists land trusts and other conservation organizations with natural resource inventory and planning. She is also affiliated with the University of Maine at Orono, College of the Atlantic, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Maine Forest Service. Her published papers are about botany, plant ecology, and sustainable forestry. She takes pleasure in helping people see the forest in a new way and in encouraging them in their pursuit of natural history. Bring your binoculars, hand lens, and digital camera if you wish, and wear boots. Children are especially welcome. We are trying to hold this outing to approximately 15 people/young folks. Directions: From Rte 2 in Milford, go 6.4 miles east on the County Rd to the Carter Meadow Rd. Meet and park at the parking lot on the County Rd. Contact Jan by email or phone: 991-1645 or 827-0227, to make your reservation.
